about the artist

I undertook my studies of art at the Ferrara School of Fine Art in Italy, my native country, where I have also exhibited my work. Since 2000 I have been based in England, a country with which I have fallen madly in love. After many years of travelling, my affection for Yorkshire has persuaded me to finally settle down and pursue a career as an artist in this region.

artists' statement

My paintings are inspired by a variety of sources, principally my perception of reality combined with forms that exist only in my imagination. In my work I try to bring objects to life in a new light, with the desire of creating an evocative atmosphere similar to that woven in spellbinding tales. The colour scheme is inspired by Renaissance and Surrealist art and by the ambience of Gothic where a few predominant colours emerge from the surrounding darkness. Numerous artists have influenced my creativity over the years, so many that it is impossible to list them all; some have been my model and muse: without them and their work to enthuse and encourage me, I would not be where I am today. This has given me real inspiration over the years and has motivated me to carry on painting and to become a professional artist. I constantly try to experiment, working with new material with the aim of creating a more versatile final product and maintaining freshness in my artistic creation. Regardless of the material used I always try to maintain my personal style which I consider a distinctive mark of my creativity. I truly hope that my art conveys to others both my love of nature, music and the form of my dreams. One of my main passions and the primary inspiration for my art is rock, death and heavy metal music. I immerse myself in the music to begin the creative process, which enables me to conjure up images, colour schemes and motifs which I then transfer to canvas. The music is such a strong influence for me that it is almost inseparable from my art.
