about the artist
Born in 1976, I came to the US during the height of the Solidarity Movement in my native country of Poland. Although I was only ten when we left,I clearly remember the Communist response to the gathering threat: martial law and eight years of repression. This history continues to inspire my artwork, because it was the first time I came face to face with the destructive capabilities of the human race.
Chicago became my new home in the US, where my ability to draw and paint was nurtured in public high schools and non-profit organizations. I attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore where I majored in Sculpture.
Today my work spans across media, and includes paintings, installations and public sculptures. It is inspired by current events and dreams, and asks the question "Are we too late to undo what we have done?"

artists' statement
As an artist I am like a mirror, relflecting the world back to itself. I observe, analyze, and share my findings in whatever media seems appropriate.
The unifying force in my work is the need to communicate the urgency of our situation. Global warming, war, crime, mall shootings, natural disasters; these are the by-products of our culture. Love, compassion, and generosity exist in small measures. Perhaps these isolated gestures can come together to form something greater then the sum of its parts, but the lingering question is "Are we too late to undo what we have done?"
